CONSTANCE AWELECHUKWU EKEH, FACSC, FNIS, CTLM, CITLS

HEAD, PORT HARCOURT ZONE

MRS. EKEH, CONSTANCE AWELECHUKWU is an all-around practitioner in logistics, import/export, shipping, and general maritime logistics with a knack for professional expertise. With array of higher degree certifications in various fields, Mrs. Ekeh has worked across two companies in the country including a government parastatal, stamping her professional marks in the structures therein. Her justification for movements is usually to satisfy the yearning for more serious challenges and betterment of self.

After a year stint in an Insurance institution (Niger Insurance) that laid the foundation for probity and accountability, Mrs. Ekeh moved up to garner practical field experience in the Oil and Gas Logistics Sector. She joined Oil and Gas Free Zones in 2001 as a Marketing Officer her major responsibility was attending to the inquiries of prospective clients to the FZ and manning the organization’s booth during exhibitions and conferences. After about two years in the Marketing department there was a need to recover the organization’s debts from their clients she was immediately posted to credit control units while there she brought sanity to the credit unit by introducing some key performance indicators (KPI) that made debt recovery jump from N2million to N4million within 3 months. While in the credit control unit she was also responsible for the collection of Free Zone License fees annually.

She later was transferred to Invoicing unit as the pioneer staff when her organization took full control of the unit Functions from its consultant (DMS Nig. Ltd.). Mrs. Ekeh worked in this unit for seven years making sure that no revenue was lost ensuring that all transactions were billed accordingly.

She briefly worked as head of Budget unit of Oil and Gas Free Zone Authority where she collates and compile the annually budget proposal from all the organization departments for onward submission to the head of Finance department. Mrs. Ekeh also accompanied her management in budget defense in Trade and Investment ministry and National Assemble respectively.

After about two years she was moved to head the Onne Port Operations as the first female to function in that capacity, a position she occupy till date.

She has re-engineered the port operations of Onne Free Zone in a great and positive way indeed by introducing one of the indices of logistics and supply chain management i.e. TAT (turn – around – time). This now measures how long it takes to transfer the FZ client’s goods from quayside or Airport to the respective clients’ stacking areas with the FZ and in addition it measures the performance of our Operations Officers. She has effectively shortened the TAT and is now making more profit for the organization.

As Assistant General Manager of Operations and Logistics in Onne Free Zone, Mrs. Ekeh performed some ad-hoc jobs worthy of mention. She coordinated the logistics of Chevron and Hamilton chartered flights at the Port Harcourt International Airport. The above mentioned involved Airfreight, clearing and transportation of the Cargoes from PH International Airport to Onne Free Zone. All were done on record time, with all safety measures in place and without damage on the cargoes.
